- A Word of Caution
Greenville & ECU are crowded places on Football GameDay beginning 3-4 hours prior to kickoff. ECUYTT urges you to plan accordingly. Expect extended waits wherever you go, especially for the 1 hour right after the end of the game with fans leaving the parking lots & several hours after the game for dining out.
- Driving Directions to Greenville, NC & ECU - click here
If you are driving from the North via I-95, consider more direct routes: Exiting at Highway 64 East in Rocky Mount & continuing to Highway 11/13 South near Bethel OR exiting at Highway 264 East in Wilson & continuing to Greenville. We believe these routes are actually quicker & easier.
The directions from Wilmington list Hwy 51 off I-40 when it's Hwy 41. Travel to Hwy 24, which turns into Hwy 11, & follow to Greenville. Traveling from the South: turn right on Firetower Rd off 11 & follow to Charles & turn left, which keeps you off Greenville Blvd during gameday. If possible, avoid Greenville Blvd altogether.
- Non-Reserved Parking Information - click here
Season, non-Pirate Club parking can be found at the Drew Steele Center on 1058 South Elm St. Rates are $150 for grass lots & $200 for paved lots. For more information, email Lew Holloman. Non-reserved single-game parking can also be found at Stratford Arms Apts. (across from ECU baseball stadium) Harris-Teeter (corner of 14th & Charles), Kmart (Greenville Blvd.) & Greenville Mall (corner of Greenville Blvd. & Charles Blvd. - parking is on the Charles Blvd. side) Cost ranges from $10-$20. All are within easy, safe, walking distance of the stadium. Free parking can be found in neighborhoods adjacent to the stadium. A word of caution on that. Locating these spots can be time-consuming & you must arrive quite early. Be careful to park within a marked space and obey curbside signs.
Pre & After game tailgating can be just as much a part of the GameDay experience as the game itself. Partiers in every parking lot adjacent to the stadium exhibit a wide variety of purple & gold gatherings. A word of caution, don't expect to move about Greenville & ECU quickly 3 or even 4 hours before a home game. Photo album 1 here & album 2 here.
- Premium Purple Seating & the Murphy Center (endzone)
Purple seating in the lower bowl & in the Club Level, spots on the Murphy Center's Privateer's Deck & inside the Murphy Center are occupied by members of the Pirate Club & their guests.
- Radio Pregame & Postgame
Both WNCT-FM (107.9 FM) & WGHB / WDLX (1250 & 930 AM) have pregame shows. WNCT's begins 3 hours prior to kickoff & seems geared more toward the 40+ aged crowd. WGHB / WDLX's broadcast starts 4 hours before kickoff & draws more from the under 40 listeners. Both stations have post-game call-in shows that begin shortly after the game's conclusion.
- Shopping for Pirate Gear
If you'll be shopping on GameDay, ECUYTT recommends you start at UBE (University Book Exchange) 516 Cotanche St. Best parking can be found on their Evans St. side & in the adjacent BB&T parking lot. Our second choice is DSS (Dowdy Student Stores) on campus. Best parking can be found off Fifth St. in front of ECU's theatre. DSS also has several locations inside the stadium. Overton's (111 Red Banks Rd.) has a good selection & spacious parking all around. Walmart (210 Greenville Blvd.SW) has a good selection. Parking is typical Walmart parking - crowded. JC Penney (Greenville Mall, 714 Greenville Blvd. SE) has a small ECU section. Enter from Greenville Blvd. side. Belk, also in the Mall, has almost nothing.
- Hotel Information - click here
There is a variety of hotels/motels in Greenville. Many require a 2 night minimum. If Greenville is booked, we suggest Washington (east), Tarboro, (northwest), Wilson (west) & Rocky Mount (northwest) in that order.
- Restaurant Information - click here
As can be expected, after a game, Greenville restaurants are flooded with diners. There are extended waits at every decent sitdown restaurant in Greenville. Be prepared to wait or simply make other plans. Reservations are difficult to get.
